The book I chose for my booktalk is Insurgent. It is the second book to divergent out of three. Beatrice Prior (of course a 16 year old), a teenager with a special mind, finds her life threatened when an authoritarian leader seeks to exterminate her kind in her effort to seize control of their divided society.  Beatrice chose Divergent, and her brother chose erudite, leaving their parents in a diffrent factions. But what secrets could've they left behind with their parents? During these hard times Beatrice can think of nothing else then what is outside. It seems so easy to go, but intimidating that no one has ever tried. But if she dosen't stay focused on trying to keep the factions together, who knows what will happen? But what if she is fighting for the oppisite cause? As Beatrice fights for not hers- but others survival, she and Four and separated. As she tries to corrupt the erudites plans, another revolation is rising. What is happenening in the maybe near future in an area they used to call Chicago? She was the first to jump. Will she be the first to explore the unknown outside world? Selfless born Beatrice Prior is in a family of 4... For now. She choose to change factions (or city) to dauntless the brave. In the second book of the Divergent, Beatrice will ender life changing events- If she lets it. She may have passed the dauntless testing, but soon she will face the ultimate test.

“People, I have discovered, are layers and layers of secrets. You believe you know them, that you understand them, but their motives are always hidden from you, buried in their own hearts. You will never know them, but sometimes you decide to trust them.” I like this quote because I think that Beatrice is saying even though she was betrayed by someone she greatly trusted, she is saying that she will not assume or judge other people based on what mistake that person made.

I rate this book 4/5 because at some points it lacked explanation and it took me a while to figure out, but over all it was a really enjoyable book. I think only readers 12 and up should be reading these books because there is some mature content. A t-w is that when people fight for power nations are divided but they want control of everybody, such as south and north Korea, like in the book how everyone is diveded, but somebody wants to control everyone.

This book was written by Veronica Roth, and her book Divergent listed as a new york tims best seller, at the young age of 22.
